In 2017, Egyptian-born Sherif Zaki joined Oxford Maqam's percussion section on the riqq.

Sherif has over four decades of experience performing in the Arab world and internationally.
In the early 1970s, Sherif performed live in concert with singing legends and cinema stars including Shadia, Fayzah Ahmad, Nagat Al Saghira, Soad Mohamed, Karem Mahmoud, Mohamed Abdu and Mohamed Qandeel.
